Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) 2011 in South Africa
The Social Enterprise World Forum 2011 took place from 5-7 April at the University of Johannesburg – with the opening of the 4th annual conference of the SEWF by the Minister of Economic Development, Ebrahim Patel. There were study tours before and after the event: from 3-4 April and 7-8 April and international visitors were exposed to social enteprises such as the Royal Bafokeng Nation, Food and Trees for Africa, Lapdesk, Wizzit Bank and Siyakhula Training Centre and the City of Cape Town’s leading social enterprises.
The conference featured keynote speakers such as Jay Naidoo, Dr Mamphela Ramphele, author Kevin Lynch, Prof Jerr Boschee, Eric Charas, Futhi Mathoba, Gerry Higgins, Peter Holbrook, David Lepage and many other guests from all over the world.The last day of the conference shed a few international guests and featured the “Africa Day” component of this conference. This event has been attended by more than 464 delegates with 111 international guests from all continents over the 3-day period. Many of the foreign delegates came from countries all over Africa with East Africa having the most delegates.
In the tradition of the annual SEWF international conferences, we also presented a conference with special features and the must-haves like study tours, gala celebration of the event, special evening with international guests and speakers and experiencing the warmth of Africa.
